Slovak Research and Development Agency (APVV)

APVV is the Slovak Research and Development Agency, which uses national funds to finance research projects run by universities, the Academy of Sciences, departmental research institutions and businesses. The best known are the general calls announced usually once a year, complemented by calls for cooperation between research and practice and bilateral programmes with partners from specific countries. An application takes the form of a project with a research team, a schedule and a budget, and is assessed by independent reviewers, including from abroad. For businesses, the most interesting aspect is the possibility of participating together with a research institution, since this creates access to capacities they would not build up on their own. The support can be combined with the research and development super-deduction, provided the rules against double financing are observed.
