AI for Video Subtitling

AI for Video Subtitling turns spoken word into text subtitles and, in a further step, can translate them into other languages or replace the voice with dubbing. For companies, this changes the economics of video content: subtitles, which until recently were a costly line item, are today a matter of minutes. They matter for three reasons – most viewers on social media watch without sound, subtitles are the basis of accessibility for people with hearing impairments, and a text track makes video discoverable for search engines and language models alike. Automatic transcription, however, requires checking, especially with specialist terminology, product names and personal names, where it reliably gets things wrong. For dubbing, also consider whether the synthetic voice matches the brand's tone.
