Digital Products

Digital products are electronic content and services delivered online – courses, templates, e-books, software, licences or access to a members-only section. Compared with physical goods, selling them has the advantage of zero delivery cost and unlimited availability, but it brings specific rules. The consumer's right to withdraw from the contract within fourteen days lapses if delivery began with their express consent and confirmation that they are aware of this loss of right – without this step, a customer can obtain the content and still demand a refund. When selling to customers in other EU member states, tax is remitted according to the consumer's country, for which a special scheme exists. The scope of the licence and protection of the content against further distribution must also be addressed.
