EIT and Knowledge and Innovation Communities

The EIT is the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which works differently from ordinary calls. It does not finance individual projects directly, but supports so-called Knowledge and Innovation Communities – long-term networks connecting universities, research institutions and companies in a specific field, such as raw materials, food, health, energy, urban mobility, manufacturing or digital technologies. These communities then run their own acceleration programmes, training courses, calls for startups and innovation projects. For companies, it is therefore more practical to follow directly the website of the community covering their field than to search for calls centrally. The offering tends to be more accessible than classic research programmes and also includes mentoring, access to partners, and help entering foreign markets.
