Filters and sorting

Filters and sorting allow the customer to narrow the offering by parameters and order it by price, popularity or novelty. Their functioning stands or falls on the quality of the product data – if some items lack completed parameters, they disappear from the results once a filter is applied, and the e-shop loses a sale without anyone noticing. It is recommended to display the number of items for each option, allow filters to be combined, and never show an empty result without suggesting a next step. For large catalogues, the technical side must also be addressed, because filter combinations create an enormous number of URLs. An overview of the most used filters is also good grounds for deciding which parameters to add to descriptions and photographs.
