EU co-financing rate

The EU co-financing rate indicates what part of a project's eligible expenditure is covered by European resources. The remainder is made up by the state budget and the recipient's own contribution, with the ratio of these three components varying by region category, fund type and type of recipient. Less developed regions have a higher share of European resources than more developed ones, which in Slovakia means different conditions for the Bratislava Region than for the rest of the country. For businesses, moreover, the aid intensity under state aid rules applies, which increases the own contribution further. The practical consequence is simple: the same project can have a different need for own funds in two different regions, and that is precisely what needs to be verified before the budget is prepared.
