A grant from a ministry budget is support funded from national resources outside EU funds, provided on the basis of a special act or a ministry's own grant scheme. Each ministry has its own focus – culture, sport, social affairs, agriculture, civil protection, crime prevention or regional support – and usually announces calls once a year, often at the start of the calendar year with a short submission deadline. Compared with EU funds, the administration is simpler, the amount is lower, and the money usually has to be spent by the end of the budget year. This time pressure tends to be the main risk, because public procurement and implementation have to be completed within a few months. It is worth monitoring the websites of individual ministries directly, rather than the central EU funds portal.
