Consultation with the provider is the opportunity to put questions about the call's conditions to the managing authority or intermediate body before submitting an application. Most calls have a designated contact point and a deadline by which questions are accepted, and the answers are generally published for all applicants at once. This option is used by only a minority of applicants, even though it is free and removes the greatest risk – a misinterpretation of a condition that only comes to light during assessment or a check. Ask in writing, specifically and with reference to the relevant point of the call, and keep the answer on file. Information seminars on calls are also useful, since besides interpretation they also cover the most common mistakes from previous rounds. However, a verbal answer does not replace a written interpretation.
