Wikidata is an open knowledge base that describes entities and the relationships between them in a machine-readable way, and it serves as a source for both search engines and language models. Adding a company to it can help with unambiguous identification, especially if its name could be confused with another entity. Community rules apply, however: the entity must be verifiable through independent sources, not its own website, and the entry must not be promotional. Arbitrarily creating an entry for a small company with no sources tends to get deleted, and repeated attempts damage reputation. It makes sense when independent articles, awards, or expert mentions exist about the company, its founder, or its product. In that case it is worth also adding identifiers that link the entity to registers and profiles. Without that groundwork, it is more effective to invest in digital PR.
