Erasmus+

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport, with a budget of more than EUR 26 billion for 2021–2027. It is not intended only for university students – grants can be obtained by nurseries, primary and secondary schools, universities, companies providing vocational training, youth organisations, and sports clubs. The programme is built on key actions: KA1 finances learning mobility, that is, study stays, internships, youth exchanges and courses for teachers abroad; KA2 supports cooperation partnerships between organisations in developing joint educational solutions. Grants are to a large extent paid out in the form of unit costs and lump sums, which considerably simplifies accounting. Applications are administered by the national agency – in Slovakia, SAAIC for education and NIVAM for youth – with deadlines usually in February and March. Erasmus+ is among the programmes with the simplest administration, making it an ideal entry point into the world of European grants.
