The de minimis aid scheme governs the granting of small-scale aid which, because of its low value, does not distort competition and therefore does not need to be notified to the European Commission. Under Commission Regulation (EU) 2023/2831, total de minimis aid to a single undertaking must not exceed EUR 300,000 over a period of three years, with the limit assessed at the level of the so-called single undertaking, including linked entities. All forms of minimal aid count towards the limit – grants, subsidised loans, waived levies, or training courses provided free of charge. The drawing of de minimis aid in Slovakia is recorded in the central IS SEMP register, administered by the Antimonopoly Office of the Slovak Republic. Before submitting an application for a grant under the de minimis scheme, the applicant must verify the remaining available limit, otherwise they risk the application being rejected or the aid being reclaimed.
