Data lake

A data lake is a storage system capable of holding large amounts of data directly in its original, raw form—both structured and unstructured—without the need to transform it in any way prior to storage. Compared to a data warehouse, it offers significantly greater flexibility, but at the same time requires thorough and systematic management to prevent it from becoming a disorganized, hard-to-use collection of data over time.
